I was accepted to the regional theater auditions! More than fifty professional and semi-professional theaters will be watching, as I have just two minutes to impress them. It's terribly exciting. I have finished one of my monologues, cutting it to about a minute and fifteen seconds. You can say very little in a minute and fifteen seconds, but I'm confident that the gist of my piece comes across. I just need something about thirty seconds long to showcase my comic ability. So I'm pretty much looking for something with a character who talks fast.
Something that this experience trying to create a monologue with a very strict time constraint has made me realize that I super-under-estimate how long my monologues are. So I've been running around giving, like, three or four minute spiels when auditors are asking for one minute, which is so obnoxious. I'm the party guest who won't SHUT UP already. All of which means that the name of this blog isn't changing any time soon.
